Drunk driving is one of the leading and most notorious causes of car accidents in any given place. Even now it is being said than 3 out of 10 Americans will get involved in an alcohol-related accident at some point. There are, however, actions that can be taken in order to avoid drunk driving accidents.
The first and easiest way to avoid a drunk driving accident is to not drive around drunk in the first place. A good way to make sure of this is choose a designated driver, should there be an instance where someone is under the influence and thus is not fit for driving.
Another way to avoid drunk driving accidents is to simply call a taxi or any form of public transportation. If there is a case where there is no one available to be a designated driver, relying on a taxi service or bus to get someone home is an option. The chances of that person being responsible for an accident are drastically lowered at this rate.
Taking someone’s keys is also a good way to avoid accidents. Again, if no designated driver is available and neither is any public transportation, then simply removing the means for a person who is drunk to start their vehicle is also effective.
Refusing to serve alcoholic beverages is another method of avoid drunk driving accidents. Attending parties or social gatherings in general leaves a lot of room for alcohol to be serve, but simply laying off of serving alcohol products will be effective. Not only this, but there is also no pressure on anyone involved to have to drink either.
Along with attending social gatherings, offering someone to stay with them for the night can also avoid problems involving alcohol later on. Staying with someone means you can monitor them for the night and prevent them from doing something that could otherwise be costly.
Having trustworthy and reliable friends around at all times is another way to avoid problems. Friends will be able to fully look after the person in question who may be drinking and thus know what to do when it comes to leave.
Of course the best way to avoid drunk-driving accidents is not drink any alcohol at all in the first place, which makes an alcohol related accident a lot less likely to occur.
